My Thoughts on VIXX’s “Fantasy” Music Video

VIXX returns to their signature dark style for “Fantasy.”

The music video is kind of abstract, but the lyrics of the song explain what’s going on. The song is about how they’re in pain because the person they love is gone, but it’s their “fantasy” for their lover to return. The video features a woman in mist who’s gone and N traveling and facing tribulations in order to get her back. (Though it doesn’t seem like he does.)

VIXX excels when they take on dark concepts and they stand out from the rest for that. Although I have to say that this doesn’t outdo any of their previous releases for me. It’s got this grand sound to it, but I don’t see myself wanting to put it on repeat. The choreography doesn’t really give me anything visual to latch onto either. It’s not their best, but it certainly feels different from what’s going on right now.

My Thoughts on SEVENTEEN’s “Very Nice” Music Video

SEVENTEEN is back again with “Very Nice.”

The song is super upbeat, as Seventeen usually is, but I think this might be a little too chipper for me. The chorus just seems too much? To the point that it makes the song seem a little too theatrical/comical to me? I liked the musical feel of “Pretty U,” but this seemed to kick it up a notch too high for my taste. It seems they went a lot more in that theatrical vein, considering one of their group outfits looks like a classical tap dancers / barbershop quartet (but with 13 boys). Is that bad? Not necessarily. But, it makes me take them less seriously.

Kind of disappointed about this track because I was so on board with “Adore U” and “Pretty U.” There’s always next time.
