MAMAMOO returns with “You’re the Best.”
Kind of overwhelmed by the growing affection I have for MAMAMOO. The girls are back with another upbeat jazzy pop track and what makes it all so great is that it’s really fun. Not only in sound, but their performance is so enjoyable because they look like they’re genuinely having fun (something that interestingly enough isn’t all that common in K-pop because of how structured everything is). Not saying other groups are fake, but a handful of other “fun-having” in music videos and performances seem really choreographed/scripted/forced. They’ve developed a really appealing image for themselves which encompasses talent, personality and looks; they’re not the type of girl group that’s easy to categorize like the cute ones, the sexy ones, or even just the talented ones.
The story isn’t all that unique but MAMAMOO’s take on the story makes it so fun to watch, as it features the girls all falling in love with a hotel employee, pursuing him in their own ways, only for them to find out he’s just this friendly to all patrons of the hotel. I find it hard for me to highlight anything because I love all of it from song to video and performance; it’s the whole package for me.
