SISTAR’s Hyorin, Bumkey and Jooyoung team up for the “Love Line.”
We’re familiar with Hyorin and Jooyoung collaborating as they released “Erase” together, but now we’ve got Bumkey thrown into the mix. Upon hearing that these 3 vocalists would be on the track, I already knew the song would be oh so smooth and they delivered. Aside from smooth vocals, the song is such a catchy, groovy R&B track. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the song was produced by US producers Da Internz & this is their first K-pop track, so I’m really looking forward to any of their future works in the K-pop realm. My highlight of the song is Hyorin scatting because we don’t hear a lot of that in K-pop and when Hyorin does it, it’s lovely. I need more of that.
The song’s about 2 men and a women being entangled in a love triangle. I love how the video takes “love line” literally and represents it with phone cords between Hyorin, Jooyoung and Bumkey. I particularly like the symbolism of the red ribbons piled into a heart and untangling into a straight line connecting Hyorin and Jooyoung. The video keeps it pretty simple, but the vocals and melody do more than enough to captivate the listener.
